IDFA is looking for emerging documentary film talent!
From July 3 through July 8 2017, IDFA organizes the 10th edition of the Summer School: a tailor-made training program for emerging filmmakers, taking place in Amsterdam and aimed at strengthening the narrative structure of documentary projects. Around sixteen projects from all over the world will be selected for the Summer School 2017. The deadline for application is March 15, 2017. IDFAcademy Summer School offers the opportunity to meet and work with highly esteemed filmmakers and film professionals who are willing to share their knowledge and experience with emerging film talent. The Summer School combines individual coaching with group sessions and an inspiring cultural program in a relaxed atmosphere. It offers two types of training possibilities: Script Development and Editing Consultancy. Participants will be coached by eight international documentary experts. This year, we proudly present director Kim Longinotto as one of the tutors. In previous years experts like Alan Berliner (Director, USA), Victor Kossakovsky ( Director, Russia), Gianfranco Rosi (Director, Italy), Audrius Stonys (Director, Lithuania), Emma Davie (director, Scotland), Kate Townsend (Executive Producer BBC Storyville, UK), Sabine Bubeck-Paaz (Commissioning Editor ZDF, Germany), Debra Zimmerman (Distributor Women Make Movies, USA) and Ollie Huddleston(Editor, UK) were tutors at the Summer School. Through highly coveted pitching sessions and targeted matchmaking, a selection of 47 projects in development or in production will be presented to 300 international decision-makers and have the chance to meet potential partners such as commissioning editors, buyers, producers and distributors. We are looking for projects that combine quality, originality and innovation related to the following topics: History, Science, Social & Human Interest, Arts & Culture, Digital Creation, Asian Stories, Natural History & Wildlife.
